Hello All,

I enjoy being on deviantart, and I know that it is hard enough for artist of all types to create their work with out worrying about people stealing it. I have faved several of you all's work, and before using it as backgrounds or profile icons. I like to ask permisson. So, how do you feel about people using your work, and what is the best way to go about asking? Please let me know how you feel about it.

If I use another artist work, I ask prior to, and places their name on the piece.

Here are my personal feelings on people using my art. If it is for their own personal enjoyment (i.e., saving it to their hard drive to look at or to use as a desktop background), I don't have a problem with that. However, I always request that people who use my art off-site put a notice on it that I am the creator. Otherwise, other people coming by will not know who created it and may think that it is okay to use the image however they see fir (which is not cool at all). I also do not give permission to repost any art that has someone else's character in it, unless the person gets the permission of the character's owner, too. I think that's pretty reasonable, but everyone has their own guidelines. It's always best to ask. :)

Yes, I completely understand. That is why I always ask. I know that artist already have a lot to deal with other than people stealing their work.
